Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer return as BCCI announce squad for ODI series against New Zealand
Shubman Gill is all set to return as the captain of the Indian ODI team as BCCI announced the squad for the upcoming three-match home series against New Zealand.
Hardik Pandya has been rested for the upcoming series, while Mohammed Siraj was included in the 15-man squad.
Gill missed out on the South Africa ODI series because of the neck spasm that he copped during the Eden Gardens Test. Apart from Gill and Mohammed Siraj, Shreyas Iyer will also be returning from his spleen injury which happened while fielding in Australia.
Gill, Iyer and Siraj come into the squad in place of Tilak Varma, Dhruv Jurel and Ruturaj Gaikwad from the team that faced South Africa. Apart from Gill and Iyer, the other major batters in the side are Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul.
Washington Sundar, Ravindra Jadeja and Nitish Kumar Reddy will be constituting the all-rounders department while Kuldeep Yadav, Harshit Rana, Prasidh Krishna, Arshdeep Singh and Mohammed Siraj will be taking care of the bowling.
The ODI series will be starting from January 11th in Vadodara before the caravan moves to Rajkot for the second ODI on 14th. The series finale will be played on January 18th in Indore.
