Smriti Mandhana has been a force to reckon with in the women’s cricketing circuit. With 928 runs in 14 matches at an average of 66.28 including four centuries, the dynamic southpaw continues to be India’s nucleus in the batting unit.

Her form in the recently concluded ODI series against Australia, where she scored two centuries in three games, would be another reason why India will lean on Smriti's run-scoring at the top of the order. Moreover, Smriti's leadership acumen will also be a massive factor for India heading into the global event.

Talking at the ICC Women’s World Cup Captains’ Meet, India captain Harmanpreet Kaur shed some light on how having Smriti in the Indian team is a big strength.

Kaur said, “Smriti has been great. The way she is batting nowadays is something really exciting to watch. When I'm batting with her, things become quite easy on the pitch. You don't need to stress so much because she is always there to help. Having her in my team is a big strength."
