Sometimes you have to make good decisions – Ajit Agarkar on Karun Nair's inclusion in Test squad

The return of Karun Nair to the Test team will witness life coming full circle for the right-hander. Ever since his triple-century in the very first Test that he played, things only went into a downward slump for him. However, the inclusion of Karun Nair also meant that Sarfaraz Khan had to take a backseat in the process.
Talking in a press-conference, Ajit Agarkar, India’s chief selector, explained why the board decided to go with Karun Nair instead of Khan, who also had a very good start to his Test career against England. He underlined the subtle differences that made Karun Nair the priority.
Agarkar said, “Sometimes you just have to make good decisions. Sarfaraz, I know he got a 100 in the first Test (against New Zealand) and then didn't get runs. Sometimes these are decisions the team management takes. At the moment, Karun has scored heaps of runs in domestic, has played a bit of Test cricket, played a bit of county cricket. With Virat not there, clearly we're lacking a bit of experience. We felt his experience could help.”
