That first half got us, but we came back well – Grace Harris
As RCB stepped onto the pitch eyeing what needed to be a historic chase for them to win their second title, all eyes were on Grace Harris. The destructive Harris did get a couple of boundaries in the very first over but she fell in the following over to Chinelle Henry. However, her phenomenal presence in the dugout was more than enough to lift up the RCB spirits in what turned out to be a thrilling successful chase in the end.
Talking in the post-match presentation, Harris opened up on her pep-talk to the team ahead of the chase, revealing, “I just said to the girls, sometimes you only get this opportunity once and to really take it. And I may have tried to be intelligent and quote Roger Federer, one of my favourite, one of the most successful athletes - he only won 54% of all of his points. So I just said to the girls, listen, you only have to win 54% to win, so let's give it a good crack and look what happened.”
She further added, “I've tried to bring a little bit of energy to what is a pretty exciting game anyway. There's not every day that you get to play in a WPL final and obviously the crowd, there's a lot of red and we very much appreciated that tonight. So, that first half got us, but we came back well.”
Harris took a sensational catch to dismiss Lizelle Lee, coming all the way from the boundary rope. Explaining the dynamics of the catch, Harris said, “That was the easiest part of my night, I reckon. No, it was, it was, God, I back myself to take them most of the time. I've got buckets for hands, so I should eat them really. But no, it's been good. It's just, we've played some really good cricket and fairly consistent and there's been different individuals stand up all throughout our competition and just really happy for the girls tonight to get a good win.”
