The outbreak of COVID-19 (novel coronavirus) has brought the world to a standstill. It is a respiratory illness that initially started in Wuhan, China. The virus seems to have no cure until now. The outbreak of novel coronavirus has resulted in the shutting down of numerous cities, towns, schools, and colleges across the globe in light of how contagious the virus is.

The President of BCCI, Sourav Ganguly confirmed that the IPL won’t be affected due to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus 

“The IPL is on and the BCCI will be taking full precautionary measures” BCCI President, Saurav Ganguly said to ESPN Cricinfo. BCCI has been following all the protocols and precautionary measures put out by the Indian Health Ministry to ensure the smooth conduct of the IPL, which is also the most-attended cricket league in the world.

It is also believed that they will be sending the precautionary measures affirmed by the Indian Health Ministry to all the franchises, players, airlines, team hotels and anyone else who is associated with the high-profile tournament. 

Indian Health Ministry has released a figure where as many as 30 people were infected by the contagious virus. The BCCI will look to leave no stone unturned to ensure that there are no casualties reported during the competition. The 13th edition of the Indian Premier League will kick-start from 29th March. Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings will square off against each other at the Wankhede Stadium in the opening fixture of the IPL. Royal Challengers Bangalore is all set to play its first match on the 31st of March, Against Kolkata Knight Riders.
