There are match-winners everywhere in this team – Arshdeep Singh
Arshdeep Singh had a successful T20 World Cup 2026, claiming nine wickets throughout the span of the tournament. The left-arm pacer delivered a fine spell in the final, registering figures of 4-0-32-0 when New Zealand needed to score almost 13 runs an over.
Arshdeep had a bit of a heated exchange with Daryl Mitchell when the former tried to throw the ball back at the stumps. However, Singh clarified that there was no love lost as he went up to Mitchell and talked it out. He also shed light on the raw emotions after India successfully defended their T20 World Cup.
Divulging what he told Daryll Mitchell after the heated exchange, Arshdeep said, “Nothing much, I just went to say sorry to Mitchell. My throw reverse-swung a bit too much and it hit his body, so I told him that I didn’t hit him intentionally.”
Talking about the emotions and the teamwork knitted by the Men in Blue, Arshdeep added, “I don’t really know what the emotion feels like right now. At the moment it feels good because we’re winning, but in two or three days we’ll know when the emotions sink in, how it actually feels. And it’s a fantastic team, there are match-winners everywhere in this team, so there was belief from the start that we would perform well, and whatever the result is, that’s just the topping on the cake.”
Explaining the role of the bowlers in the equation, Arshdeep said, “The role of the bowlers is that if the batsmen are scoring 250, then you have to stop them below 250, that’s the role we kept for ourselves. And if we bowl first, then try to restrict them to as low as possible and give the batters a chance to play freely.”
