This win is as much for the fans as it is for the team – Virat Kohli on RCB’s maiden IPL title

A surface that needed a strong anchor for RCB on a tricky wicket saw Virat Kohli stepping up big time in the grand finale. Despite not being able to convert what was a solid start into a full-blown show of pyrotechnics, yet Virat Kohli’s anchoring knock of 45 proved to be critical for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru to put up a match-winning 190 on the board in the grand finale.
Talking in the post-match interview, Virat Kohli attributed the win to the fans who have been loyal to the franchise for 18 staggering years. He revealed what the emotions, what the moment and what the big day meant for him.
Virat said, “This win is as much for the fans as it is for the team. It's been 18 long years. I've given this time my youth, my prime. I gave it everything I have. I never thought this day would come. Was overcome with emotion as soon as the last ball was bowled.”
He further added, “I have stayed loyal to this team, no matter what. Have had moments when I thought otherwise, but I stuck to this team. My heart is with Bangalore, my soul is with Bangalore and this is the team I'll play for till the time I play the IPL. Tonight I'll sleep like a baby.”
