Just a few days after the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League was suspended due to COVID-19 cases some of the IPL teams, India and Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli and his wife Anushka Sharma have announced a campaign for India's COVID-19 relief work.

In a video posted on social media, Kohli and Anushka expressed concerns at the COVID-19 situation in the country and shared details of a fundraiser the couple has organized for relief work.

As a start, the duo donated INR 2 crore to the relief fund.

"Since the Covid-19 outbreak, our country is going through trying times, our health systems are being challenged, we need to come together and help our India," Kohli wrote in an Instagram post.

"Anushka and I have started a campaign on Ketto, to raise funds for Covid-19 relief, and we would be grateful for your support. No amount is too small to save lives."

The star couple assured that the battle over COVID-19 can be won if we all come together and urged everyone to join the movement.

"We will do everything we can to make a difference, but we need your help to fight this. I urge you all to join our movement. Let's do our part to keep our country safe and strong. Thank you,” Kohli wrote on the post.

Virat Kohli and the entire Royal Challengers Bangalore team have safely made it to their respective homes after the tournament was postponed. A call on the remaining matches of the tournament will be taken later, keeping in mind the COVID-19 situation in the country.
