Ravichandran Ashwin is one of the finest spinners of this generation. The seasoned campaigner has bagged 564 wickets for the men in blue so far from 227 appearances across all the three formats.

The 33-year-old has also picked up 27 five-wicket hauls in international cricket with all of them being from the longest form of the game.

Did you know that Ravi Ashwin cultivated the habit of collecting and preserving match balls, stumps from the matches where he had performed the best?

During an interaction on 100 Hours 100 Stars, an initiative started by Fever Network, Ashwin said: "Every time I get a five-wicket haul, the match ball ends up safely in my cabinet. Every time I produce an impactful performance, I take a stump. So my house is actually filled with souvenirs. I have played 71 Tests and I think I have collected around 60 souvenirs."

When talking about his close teammates, Ashwin revealed that Cheteshwar Pujara is a definite choice along with Shikhar Dhawan. Ashwin also mentioned that Virat Kohli, the Indian captain is someone who always has interesting and exciting conversations.

"Cheteshwar Pujara for sure. I like Shikhar Dhawan too as he is a lot of fun. I used to like Shanker Basu (former Head Strength and Conditioning Coach) a lot. Also Virat as he can have interesting conversations all the time," he said.

Ravichandran Ashwin has been a part of some of Indian cricket team’s best moments:

  • He was a part of 2011 ICC World Cup-winning team.
  • He played a pivotal role in the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy which team India triumphed.
  • When India became the number one ranked side in Tests in 2016, he was the bowling department’s wrecker-in-chief.
