RCB chronicled a fairytale comeback which culminated into a play-off spot from practically nowhere as they seized a thrilling win against their long-standing rivals, Chennai Super Kings. The audience that night was riddled with superstars from various walks of life while India internationals Smriti Mandhana, who also happens to be RCB-W skipper, Jemimah Rodrigues and RCB all-rounder, Shreyanka Patil were in attendance.

Talking about RCB’s journey in IPL 2024 in a video for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Smriti said, “I actually just realized that watching the match is much more stressful than actually playing. But really happy that we got a really good score. Coming back reminded me of playing in Chinnaswamy but really happy with the way boys have fought back throughout the season.”

Smriti further added, “The boys have fought back in a pretty similar manner. I think we also did the same, winning the first two or three games and then having the few matches where you couldn’t perform the way but no actually goes out and tries to not perform. It takes a lot of guts to come back from that position and you know that you still have a chance to qualify. That itself what a character this team has.”

The RCB-W captain concluded by talking about the mini-reunion of the WPL champions that featured the likes of Mandhana herself, Shreyanka Patil, Renuka Singh and Jemimah as well. She said, “Really excited to meet them again. Wearing the jersey after a long time, almost after 2 months but yeah to meet the girls and we can also take a little bit of credit off the win today.”
