We are very grateful that we are representing India – Dhruv Jurel

Dhruv Jurel played a very special innings in Colombo, as he brought up his second Test century. Not only did Jurel smash a great knock but he also knitted together a crucial century stand with Rishabh Pant, laying the bedrock of India’s extended dominance.

Talking at the presser at the end of the day’s play, Jurel opened up on his awareness of the Sri Lankan conditions while also decoding his blueprint for his very special century.

Shedding light on the conditions and his blue print, Jurel said, “I am kind of used to the condition. I was touring with India A and I am aware of the situation. While batting, I was trying to bat in partnerships because as coach said and captain said, ‘try to assess the condition and see what is it demanding of you’. They told me to pick my brains and positively.”

Also reflecting on Mohammed Siraj’s singular celebration, Jurel said, “I think, whenever I speak to him (Mohammed Siraj), he always celebrates more than the centurion. It is good about him and he was defending solid.”

He concluded by talking about the honour of representing India in Tests, Jurel said, “It is never stress free when you are representing India. We are very grateful that we are representing India. There are always butterflies (in the stomach). It is about when you are playing the first 20 or 25 balls, what goes on in your brain. Even though I scored a hundred today, tomorrow, I will be starting from zero.”
