When Captain Bengaluru went on rampage in IPL’s EL Clasico – Happy birthday, Rajat Patidar

This has been a season to remember for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Rajat Patidar as well. Captaining RCB for the first time, the legacy that he has mastered is absolutely incredible. Propelling RCB to the finale on his very first rodeo as the RCB skipper has been nothing short of incredible. As we celebrate our skipper’s 32nd birthday, here’s a quick glance at the heroics crafted by Captain Bengaluru in the Southern Derby as CSK bore the brunt.
Playing the first Southern Derby of the season, RCB got off to a great start, thanks to Phil Salt and Virat Kohli. However, a great overture doesn’t necessarily mean that the symphony will hit the right crescendo. The conductor plays a key role in getting all of the necessary notes in tune, the cumulation of which leads to the magnum opus.
Rajat walked out to bat as RCB stuttered a bit at 77/2. Patidar got off to a watchful start, biding his time. With his preceding reputation of being an absolute master against spin, his eyes lit up when Noor Ahmad decided to toss one up. Despite being a miscued hit, Patidar racked up his first maximum of the evening, clubbing power onto that shot.
The belligerence soon spilled over to the pace department of CSK as well as Matheesha Pathirana was being carved straight down the ground with Patidar offering the full face of the bat to propel it to the fence. Ravindra Jadeja was soon taking fire too as it was Captain Bengaluru’s full-blown fury consuming CSK. Patidar clobbered 14 runs off Jadeja’s over, pressing on the accelerator for RCB.
He continued the onslaught for a good deal before Pathirana could finally see the back of him. He had already amassed 51 by then from just 32 balls, rocking four fours and three sixes. Not only did he play an instrumental role with the bat that earned him the Player of the Match award but his impeccable captaincy saw RCB vanquish Chennai at home, a feat that ushered in a new dawn.
We wish Rajat Patidar a very happy birthday and also all the best for the grand celebrations that have been planned at the end of 3rd May.
