Deepti Sharma played a vital role against Zimbabwe, scoring 49 runs to steady India’s ship after they lost four quick wickets for just 19 runs during a modest chase of 115. Sharma built a crucial 82-run stand with Niki Prasad for the fourth wicket, guiding India to safety.

Sharma earned the Player of the Match award for her sensational performance. At the post-match presentation, Sharma discussed her feelings after playing a match-winning knock. She also explained her innings under immense pressure while crediting the WPL for her ability to assess the situation.

Reflecting on her emotions after the win, Sharma said, “I'm really pleased because I am used to these kind of situations, and I'm glad that I could bat little early in the powerplay. My mindset was that I have to finish the game, and that's how me and Niki were playing.”

Explaining her ploy throughout the innings, Sharma added, “I had a clear (plan) that I have to play a few shots early when it's in my radar. So I calculated according to that, and my mindset is pretty simple that I have to play in my areas.”

She concluded by talking about how franchise cricket has helped her evolve, stating, “Pretty much helped me. WPL, the Hundred and all that stuff helped me to bat little early and assess the condition well while chasing. And when you are mentally ready, you can adapt (to) the situations, and that's how I do it.”
