You have to learn from your mistakes – Rajat Patidar on RCB’s defeat against RR
RCB went down fighting against Rajasthan Royals as the latter managed to shoot down a formidable total with consummate ease. After a batting fiasco in the top-order that reduced RCB to 125/7, it was an extraordinary counter-attack from Rajat Patidar that saw the visitors regaining some momentum.
Patidar smashed 63 off just 40 balls, clobbering four fours and four sixes. Talking at the post-match presentation, Patidar opened up on the entire game and where things went downtown for the Royal Challengers. He also shed some light on Venkatesh Iyer’s inclusion in the side while capping it all off with a message for the future.
Explaining the dynamics of the game, Patidar said, “I think the way we started in the powerplay, the initial wickets, and from there, 202, I think that’s a positive sign for us. And at the same way, the way their batters, especially Vaibhav, batted in the powerplay, I think that made a huge difference.”
Shedding light on the inclusion of Venkatesh Iyer and missing out on Suyash Sharma, Patidar added, “I think the way we are, I think in our last matches that was brilliant. But I think there are a lot of learnings from this game. I think (Suyash’s absence) not that much because Venky, Sheppi (Shepherd) and KP were there. So I think we have to manage those overs with all three of our bowlers. I think that not made a huge difference.”
He concluded by saying, “I think if you are playing this kind of competitive cricket, especially IPL, there will be lot of errors. But important is the way you look at it, and you have to learn from your mistakes."
