Royal Challengers Bangalore’s Director of Cricket Operations Mike Hesson is hopeful that despite COVID-19 outbreak sweeping the world, IPL can take place this year. Hesson also assured that as and when that happens, RCB will be ready for the tournament.

"We're still really hopeful that things will evolve and there will be an IPL this year and if it happens, then I can assure you that RCB will be ready,"Hesson said on Star Sports show ''Cricket Connected.''

Indian Premier League’s 13th season was to kick off from 29th March but the tournament had to be postponed indefinitely after COVID-19 pandemic outbreak and subsequent lockdown by the government of India.

Hesson said that it was wise to put everything on hold as the pandemic has led to an unprecedented health crisis.

"Quite rightfully, everything has been put on hold and everybody is going about their work. There are obviously other priorities at the moment that people are focussing on," added the 45-year-old.

Mike also said that RCB were gearing up for the IPL and were only days away from hitting the camp before the outbreak brought everything to a standstill.

"We were obviously a week away from coming into camp, like everybody else, feeling well advanced in terms of our planning.”

The 45-year-old was stuck in India for more than a month after both New Zealand and India enforced a lockdown owing to the pandemic. However, ex-New Zealand coach managed to fly back home last month after his home country eased down lockdown restrictions.
