The Board of Control for Cricket in India announced a cash prize of INR 51 crore for the Indian women’s team following their title triumph in the 2025 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup. BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed the announcement in a statement to ANI on Monday.

The Indian women’s team secured their first-ever ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup as they went onto beat South Africa in a nail-biting chase last night. Batting first, India scored 298/7. South Africa failed to chase down the target as they were bundled out for 246 with 27 balls to spare.

Saikia said in a statement, “BCCI is elated and without touching anything from the ICC kitty, BCCI on its own is going to pay, as a reward, of INR 51 crores to the Indian team. That amount will go to the players, selectors as well as the support staff headed by Amol Muzumdar.”

This amount announced by the BCCI is in addition to the revised prize money which the winners received for winning the tournament. Ahead of the competition, ICC chairman Jay Shah announced a massive hike in the prize money for the teams who were to participate in the World Cup.

The winners were all set to get USD 4.48 million (approximately INR 42 crore) which is a massive leap from what Australia’s women’s team got in 2022 which is approximately USD 1.32 million. The Australia men’s team got USD 4 million for winning the 2023 World Cup.
