I just focus on my line and length – Kranti Gaud

Kranti Gaud carved history in England as she became the first woman to register her name on the Lord’s Test Honour board, claiming a fifer in the first innings of the one-off Test. Not only did she stop there but in the second innings, she landed the crucial scalps of Tamsin Beaumont and Heather Knight, which saw England wobble.

Gaud won the Player of the Match award for her phenomenal performance. Talking at the post-match presentation, Gaud opened up on her dream display at Lord’s while decoding the blueprint that saw her dictate England with an iron fist in both innings.

Revealing if she ever thought of becoming the Player of the Match at Lord’s, Gaud said, “Growing up, I never imagined something like this would happen. But from the day this Test match began, I told myself that I wanted to get my name on the honours board. “

Explaining her ploy, Gaud added, “My approach is very simple. I just focus on my line and length. Whatever the coaches have told me, I try to follow that by hitting the same line and length consistently. That's what I was thinking about with every ball.”

She concluded by talking about her emotions, stating, “I feel extremely proud, and so does my family. I want to thank everyone - my coaches, my seniors, and everyone who has supported me throughout this journey. I've made a small museum at home, and I'm going to keep the stump there forever.”
