India had to make some last-minute changes to their erstwhile announced ODI squad of South Africa as Washington Sundar tested positive for Covid. Off-spinner, Jayant Yadav and express bowler, Navdeep Saini managed to make the cut for the ODI team that will be touring the Rainbow Nation.

Jayant Yadav was called in to fill the boots of Washington Sundar for the ODI series. Navdeep Saini will be touring with the team as a backup for Mohammed Siraj who picked up a hamstring niggle in the second Test of the series.

Yadav who is 31 years old now, played his last ODI in 2016. However, he came out in blazing colours for India in the second Test against New Zealand at Wankhede. He claimed a four-wicket haul to mop up the Kiwi tail that saw India lifting the series.

The 29-year-old Navdeep Saini grabbed a few eyeballs while playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore and was also in decent touch against Australia and Sri Lanka. In the first-class games that India A played against South Africa A, Saini claimed 11 wickets, underlining his importance to the side.

The first two ODI matches will be played at Boland Park in Paarl on January 19th and 21st while the final match will be played at the Newlands Stadium in Cape Town.

Revised squad for the South Africa ODI tour: KL Rahul (Captain), Jasprit Bumrah (vice-captain), Shikhar Dhawan, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer, Venkatesh Iyer, Rishabh Pant (wicket-keeper), Ishan Kishan (wicket-keeper), Yuzvendra Chahal, R Ashwin, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Deepak Chahar, Prasidh Krishna, Shardul Thakur, Mohammed Siraj, Jayant Yadav, Navdeep Saini.
