India chase Asia Cup final berth with Bangladesh challenge in sight

24 Sep, 2025 By Editor

India will be on the cusp of making the cut for the grand final of Asia Cup 2025 as they lock horns with Bangladesh for their next Super Fours challenge. They are on a four-match winning run in the tournament, vanquishing the likes of Oman, UAE and their arch-rivals Pakistan twice.

The Indian batting unit showed why they are being deemed as one of the finest in the world right now as they bossed around in their last challenge. Abhishek Sharma, the leading run-scorer of the tournament with 173 runs (at the time of writing) at a strike rate of 208.43 will be famished for more. Shubman Gill did get the start last game but fell agonizingly short of a well-orchestrated half-century.

The Indian bowling unit did a fine job of turning the tide around in the last game after being smashed around in the first 10 overs. However, the fielding department will have to take a detailed look at affairs as India dropped five catches which can be an alarming spectacle. With that being said, the Men in Blue have always been on the lookout for improvement and it can be expected that as they collide with Bangladesh tomorrow, they will try and iron those bumps out to qualify for the final with a match in hand.

Pitch overview:

The last battle in Dubai witnessed an absolute belter of a track as batters made merry. However, the factor of uncertainty in Dubai will always be predominant, thereby subjecting both teams to adaptability instead of a preconceived template taken from the other games. There is one thing consistent though about Dubai’s track and that is spinners get a bit of an additional edge. With that being said, one can expect this to be a fairly balanced contest between bat and ball.

X-Factors for India:

·      Abhishek Sharma returning to form means only one thing and that is pressure for the bowlers. His relentless striking flair up top makes him a breathing menace for the bowlers.

·      Jasprit Bumrah had a bit of a tough day at the office on Sunday but will be expected to fire again as a chance to make it for the finale awaits.
