India extend their white-ball dominance after clinching top spot in ICC ODI Rankings

In the latest ICC Rankings, Team India clinched the top spot in ODIs to extend their dominance in white-ball cricket while Australia remained at the top in the longest format of the game. The latest rankings which were released included all matches played since May 2024 and those of the previous two years at 50 percent.

India managed to bag the pinnacle of the points table in ODIs after winning the ICC Champions Trophy that got them to 124 points from the 122 that they already had in their repertoire. New Zealand clinched the second spot, leapfrogging Australia who were eliminated in the semi-finals of the ICC Champions Trophy.

India’s T20 World Cup win last year saw them remain at the top, even though the points difference between them and the Aussies came down to nine instead of the 10 that remained in place. In the longest format of the game, India slipped to the fourth position with 105 points after defeats against New Zealand at home last year followed by another debacle Down Under.
