Kohli is one step ahead of anybody else – Kapil Dev on the stalwart's temperament

India had a fine run in the Champions Trophy semi-final where they rode high on the brilliance of Virat Kohli to oust Australia from the tournament. Virat‘s 84 screamed confidence and composure and the way he batted was nothing short of sensational.

Kohli’s already mastered a century earlier in the tournament which came against Pakistan while his 84 against the Aussies was another masterstroke of brilliance. Former Indian captain, Kapil Dev pointed out that Virat Kohli’s calm and composure in the face of pressure is what has always been a game-changer for him.

In fact, such has been his greatness, Kapil Dev believes that he is a notch above the iconic MS Dhoni who has always been considered a totem of calm over the years. Kohli also won the Player of the Match award, propelling him to the top of the list over his former RCB teammate, Chris Gayle, with 12 awards now.

Talking to India Today, Kapil Dev said, “I think he has the temperament to take up a bigger challenge, and that is where he gets the energy. He likes to play like that and very few cricketers have that temperament. But at the end of the day, he has the talent and the class on how to win matches. We know Dhoni used to do that, but Kohli is one step ahead of anybody else.”
