The English all-rounder Moeen Ali will be a part of England and Wales Cricket Board's (ECB) newest creation, The Hundred. Birmingham Phoenix drafted Moeen Ali to their side during the player draft back in October 2019.

Birmingham Phoenix has announced that Mo will be leading their side in the first-ever season of The Hundred this summer. "Every time I come to Edgbaston it takes me back to some great first memories of coming here at a very young age," said Moeen Ali.

Moeen Ali has a special bond with Edgbaston. He grew up close to Edgbaston and Edgbaston will be the home ground for his side, Birmingham Phoenix.

"To be the first men's captain of Birmingham Phoenix in a new and inclusive competition that will reach out to communities and welcome them in is very special for me," said Moeen Ali.

"I know how much of a uniting game cricket is and as a leader of the Birmingham Phoenix that is something I definitely want to promote," said Moeen Ali.

The 32-year-old World Cup winner will have a good company at the Birmingham Phoenix team with the likes of Chris Woakes, Kane Williamson, Adam Zampa, Liam Livingstone and many others.

"We are lucky to have some of the best players in the country in our squad and also some amazing overseas players, so we know that the cricket is going to be really exciting," added Moeen.
