A part of the journey is the end and last night RCB’s dream run in IPL 2024 met its conclusion as they were drubbed and eliminated by Rajasthan Royals. Despite putting in a full-blown fight, it wasn’t enough for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru to stave off the Royals in a modest run-chase.

Winning the toss, Rajasthan decided to bowl first. The Challengers didn’t really get the wheels rolling up front as they lost their captain Faf du Plessis (17) early. Kohli didn’t last long either as he fell for a well-orchestrated 33.

Cameron Green (27) and Rajat Patidar (34) did try to rebuild the innings. They looked good for their stay in the center but Ravichandran Ashwin would shortly deal a double whammy to remove Green first, followed by Glenn Maxwell, who had another tough day in the office.

Patidar kept on battling and had help from Mahipal Lomror (32) but it wasn’t enough. It was Lomror’s late show that saw RCB clawing their way to 172/8 at the end of their 20 overs.

RCB did keep things tight up front and also had a couple of early success as they were able to claim the crucial scalps of Tom Kohler-Cadmore (20) and Sanju Samson (17) early but Yashasvi Jaiswal’s tempestuous 45 off 30 set the tone for the RR chase.

Dhruv Jurel (8) couldn’t add much either as he was caught short of the crease by Virat Kohli’s electric effort that saw RCB trying to fight back with all they had. However, it was Riyan Parag who anchored the innings and scored a valuable 36 to steer the RR ship towards the finish line.

He had support from Shimron Hetmyer who managed to add 26 crucial runs who also departed in quick succession with Siraj dealing a double whammy. However, with very little remaining to shoot down, Rovman Powell got the job done for RR with a couple of boundaries and a maximum.
