BCCI announced the squad for India’s upcoming Test series against England in the latter’s den. With Rohit Sharma having stepped down from the Test format, Shubman Gill was handed over the reins of the Indian captaincy while there were multiple changes to the side, featuring fresh faces coming in.

India’s red-ball set-up saw reinforcements coming in the form of Karun Nair, Shardul Thakur and Arshdeep Singh, which will have a major impact on how the Test series might shape up in the den of the Three Lions. One of the notable inclusions to the Indian Test team was that of Karun Nair, who has been away from the set-up since 2017. He blasted a triple-century on his Test debut, riveting some serious attention.

Amongst the senior players in the side, Rishabh Pant, Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja will have to play a key role in doing the heavy lifting for India, especially in the absence of two of their biggest ever stars of all time, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. India will be playing five Tests against England, starting from 24th June.

Squad: Shubman Gill (c), Rishabh Pant (vc, wk), Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Sai Sudarshan, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Karun Nair, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Ravindra Jadeja, Dhruv Jurel, Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Akash Deep, Arshdeep Singh, Kuldeep Yadav.
