Shubman Gill’s got a little bit of a technical issue: VVS Laxman

Young opening batsman, Shubman Gill hasn’t had the best of outing with the willow in the Test series against England. The 21-year-old has scored 119 runs in 7 innings with 50 being his highest score in the ongoing four-match Test series.

Speaking at the post-match show on Star Sports, former batsman VVS Laxman pointed out the technical fault in Gill’s play that has caused him a string of low scores.

“Definitely (he needs to work against the incoming deliveries)… especially on a wicket like this which is a flat one compared to the previous pitches in Chennai and Ahmedabad,” Laxman said in the post-match show on Star Sports.

Laxman feels that the pressure might have come to Gill, but he also mentions that the likes of KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal are eagerly waiting for that playtime. This clearly shows the quality players that make India's bench strength really good.

“He’s got a little bit of a technical issue. You can see his head is falling over, his right leg is coming across just to over-compensate. I just felt once he got started, he did not convert them into big scores and now the pressure will be on him, you also have to remember you’ve got KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal waiting for their opportunities,” Laxman added.
