Team India squad for T20 World Cup announced

After an exciting wait and countless permutations and combinations, BCCI has announced their 15-man squad for the T20 World Cup which is all slated to unfold Down Under, later in October. After a disappointing run in the 2021 edition of the tournament, India will be hoping to make a mark in 2022 down under.

Rohit Sharma will continue to lead the team while KL Rahul will be serving as his deputy. Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav are the ones shouldered with the onus of steering the Indian middle-order while a few choices are to be made between Deepak Hooda, Rishabh Pant, and Dinesh Karthik for the following middle-order positions.

Hardik Pandya was the obvious pick as the all-rounder but he will have to report to NCA for conditioning while India will be up against South Africa and Australia in the build-up to the tournament. Ravindra Jadeja had to be left out due to his knee injury for which he recently underwent surgery and will be continuing with his rehabilitation process.

Ashwin was taken in the side to fill that void left by Jadeja, even though this isn’t exactly a like-for-like substitution. The ace off-spinner will be handling the spin department for the Men in Blue alongside Chahal and Axar Patel.

India will be reprieved to welcome back two of their ace quicks, Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel whose absence led to a significant impact in the recently concluded Asia Cup 2022. Bhuvneshwar Kumar will continue to lead the Indian new ball bowling lines while Arshdeep Singh finds a spot in his first major ICC event.

Not only did the apex Indian cricketing body announce the squad for the T20 World Cup but they also announced the team lists for the upcoming bilateral affairs against South Africa and Australia at home which will provide the team the perfect platform to fine-tune their combination against two serious cricketing nations.
