Video – Phil Salt drowns Irish bowlers with boundary rampage in Dublin

It was another classic show from RCB’s star wicket-keeper Phil Salt, the dashing opener wreaked havoc against Ireland, a 46-ball 89 that helped England chase down a steep 197-run target in the first T20I at Dublin.
Phil Salt came out hounding for blood from ball one itself. After scoring two runs in the first two balls, Salt showcased his rampaging self, smashing fours and sixes for fun. His first boundary came against Matthew Humphreys, with a shot drilled through the covers. Barry McCarthy was the next one to face Salt’s wrath.
Unlike Humphreys, McCarthy found himself being tormented in his very first over like there is no tomorrow. After being whacked for a maximum in the second ball, he was driven on the up through the cover before being pulled over short midwicket for another six. Craig Young found himself at the receiving end of Salt’s bat too as the English hard-hitter had no intentions to relent.
He completed his half-century in style, crunching McCarthy in front of point, completing the feat in just 20 balls. Despite the second half of his knock getting a tad slower, considering the fact that he had to chart his course through five fielders on the fence, yet it was breezy enough for him to finish things on a blaze of glory, racking up 89 from just 46 balls.
Salt’s blitzkrieg was more than enough to win him the Player of the Match award as England shot down the target with two and a half overs to spare. Salt continues to be a threat in the shortest format of the game, after recently carving a mind-blowing century against South Africa in England’s last T20I series.
