Virat Kohli and ABD featured in most of the ‘Teams of the Decade’ picks by top cricket websites

As the decade was coming to an end, all the top cricket websites got down to put together ‘Decade XIs’. And the legends of modern cricket – Virat Kohli and ABD walked into most of the Decade XI teams.

Scoring 7,000 + runs with 27 centuries in the last decade at an impressive average of almost 55, Virat Kohli was picked to strengthen the middle order in the Wisden’s Test Team of the Decade, ESPNCricinfo’s Test Team of the Decade and Cricbuzz Test Team of the Decade. He was also picked for Cricket Australia’s Test Team of the Decade.

Kohli, the 50-over cricket’s GOAT, was the highest run-scorer of the decade in the ODIs as he amassed 11,000 runs at an average of 61.31 with an outlandish 43 centuries and 55 half-centuries.

On the other hand, ABD had scored 5,059 runs at 57.84 average in the last decade. Interestingly, he was picked as a wicket-keeper by ESPNCricinfo for inflicting 4 stumpings and 80 catches. ABD was also part of the Test Teams of the Decade of Wisden Cricket, Cricbuzz and Cricket Australia.

ABD, whose strike rate in the 2010s was a sublime 109.76, played the decade's defining innings in 2015. He made a 44-ball 149 - the fastest ODI hundred - against West Indies at the Wanderers.

With 8,000 runs under his belt at a handsome strike rate of 135, Kohli cemented his place as No. 3 in the T20 Team of the Decade of ESPNCricinfo and Wisden Cricket. And ABD made No. 4 position his own in the T20 Teams of the Decade.

Not just that, Virat Kohli was also chosen as the Men’s Cricketer of the Decade. The title was won purely on fans’ votes, which shows the amount of love and respect the legend has garnered over the decade.
