We need to switch on as a mindset – Sunil Joshi on India’s preparations in Zimbabwe
India got off to a roaring start against Zimbabwe in Harare in the series opener. As the Men in Blue gear up for the second clash of the series, India’s bowling coach Sunil Joshi opened up on the conversations that the think tank has had with the entire side.
Talking in a pre-match presser, Joshi opened up on the collective strength of the side while he also made it clear that conditions shouldn’t be a pivotal point. Joshi underlined the fact that it is more of a mental aspect of the game and one needs to make adjustments according to the situation.
Shedding light on the confab with the players, Joshi said, “The conversations that we had with the players is that we were aware of the fact that it was a hectic series, the Ireland and the England ones. So coming back from there to here, the travel and all included, we have to give credit to the players also. Coming back here, it is important to understand, a win is a must which has happened. I am very pleased with the bowling performance of all the bowlers.”
Explaining how the conditions might come into play, Joshi added, “I don’t think that the conditions are going to make much of a difference. We need to switch on as a mindset. We need to be mentally strong. And what are the needs of the hour, we will have to focus on that. Irrespective of the fact that if you are playing in Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe or England, you have to be mindful of the situation that you are in, what kind of a batter you are in, then you react to the situation.”
