Pawan Negi is an impactful T20 specialist with big hitting and wicket taking abilities. The left hander can smash the ball a long way while his slow left arm spin is more than effective in T20s. The Uttarakhand born lad is a very sharp fielder too. He made his FC debut in 2011 and List A debut in 2012 for Delhi. Negi has played IPL since 2012 for two different franchises.
His major break came after a fantastic limited overs season for Delhi in 2015-16. This also earned him a call up to the Indian side for the bilateral T20Is against SL, Asia Cup T20 and World T20. The next phase was an icing on the cake - Negi was bought for 8.5 crores in the 2016 VIVO IPL auction, the highest amount paid for an uncapped player that time. However Negi could play one T20I for India against minnows UAE in the Asia Cup T20 where he did not get to bat but picked 1 wicket from the 3 overs he bowled.
RCB purchased him in 2017 for INR 1 Crore and was our most consistent performer, shining with both bat and ball in an underwhelming season last year. In fact, he ended up as our highest wicket-taker in Season 10 and his handy contributions with the bat down the order boosted his reputation. He was instrumental in helping Delhi win the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy in 2018. He continues to remain an integral part of Delhi's ODI setup in the Vijay Hazare Trophy batting at No.7 and regularly bowling his quota of 10 overs.
In the 2018 VIVO IPL mega auction, DD thought that they had their man at INR 1 Crore. But , RCB were quick to remove their Right To Match (RTM) card to take Pawan back to the Chinnaswamy for the season.
